Unfortunately, a lot of this is difficult to source, we are bringing it to your attention to create a buzz and do something about it. We believe world cuisine's should be more celebrated. 'Read all about it' its time Nigeria is put on the world stage! 

Street Food - LETS DIVE IN

Let us take you on a journey through what we think are Nigeria's 10 Nigerian street foods. You won't know until you know!

Suya: These thinly sliced skewers of marinated meat, typically beef or chicken, are grilled over an open flame and seasoned with a blend of spices, including ground peanuts and cayenne pepper.

The result? Tender, smoky, and irresistibly flavourful bites that will leave you craving more. Serve with raw onion, cucumber and tomato - this adds a layer of acid to the dish. Want some added heat - then request Yaji seasoning. It is the perfect partner to this culinary delight!

Akara: Where do we start! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, akara is Nigeria's answer to the beloved falafel. Made from ground black-eyed peas blended with onions, peppers, and spices, these deep-fried fritters are a popular breakfast or snack during the busy day.

3 Puff Puff: You can find this everywhere! Light, fluffy, and oh-so-satisfying, puff puff is Nigeria's take on the classic doughnut. These golden-brown orbs of fried dough are sweetened with sugar and often flavoured with a hint of nutmeg or vanilla. Best enjoyed piping hot from the fryer.

Dambu-Nama: an aromatic Northern Nigerian specialty that combines finely shredded meat with a blend of exotic spices. This might be where we catch your intrigue!

Blended with chili peppers, onions, and local seasonings, and sometimes garnished with slices of onion and aromatic herbs. Typically made from beef, goat, or chicken—is sun-dried, lightly fried, and then pulverized to create a fluffy, flavourful delicacy that tickles the palate.

Roasted Plantains (Boli): Simple yet satisfying, boli is Nigeria's version of grilled plantains. The ripe plantains are charred over hot coals until caramelized and tender, then served with a sprinkle of salt or a spicy pepper sauce for an extra kick.
